Dry Needling

Dry needling is a skilled form of manual therapy designed to find and eliminate neuromuscular dysfunction that has caused pain and functional deficits.

  • Myofascial pain is a common form of pain that arises from muscles or related fascia and is usually associated with myofascial trigger points. It is a highly localized, hypersensitive spot in a palpable, taut band of skeletal muscle fibers.
  • Fine filament needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points, tendons or ligaments to stimulate healing response in painful musculoskeletal conditions.
  •  The needle used is very thin and most subjects do not even feel it penetrate the skin. A healthy muscle feels very little discomfort with insertion of this needle.
  • When an active myofascial trigger point is stimulated, two important clinical phenomena can be elicited: referred pain and a local twitch response (the subject will feel a sensation like a muscle cramp).
  • Patients soon learn to recognize and even welcome this sensation as it results in deactivating the trigger point, reducing pain and restoring normal length function to the involved muscle.
  • Dry Needling is different than acupuncture with regards to the evaluation tools used, the assessment, the application, and the overall intended goal.
  • All-Pro Physical Therapy utilities Dry Needling as a part of a comprehensive treatment plan to effectively treat complex chronic musculoskeletal / neurologic pain and dysfunction.

Graston Technique

Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascia restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Kinesio Tape – Utilized In the Olympics

Have you noticed that bright colored tape on Olympic and professional athletes? That’s Kinesio Tape®. Kinesio Taping is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion, as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered during your physical therapy session. Kinesio Taping Method is supported by clinical research and has several advantages over traditional taping. It is proven to provide rapid relief of pain, decreases lymph edema, increases support and stability, while still allowing for full range of movement.

McKenzie Method

The McKenzie Method®, also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT) is an approach to treating spinal and orthopedic conditions involving the upper or lower extremities that cause pain or limit function. Patients are examined by a Certified McKenzie clinician. The central focus of the evaluation is a sequence of test movements that are used to determine which exercises and therapeutic movements will resolve the problem.

Treatment is focused on educating patients in using exercises, postural modifications, and other self-treatment techniques to restore pain-free movement and reduce the risk of future problems. Traditional physical therapy procedures including manual therapy are used as needed to enhance the self-treatment process.
